I LOVE YOU GRANDMA
She waves at pictures And talks to walls She kisses the lamp And sometimes falls I pick her up And kiss her cheek And try so hard Not to weep She tries to pull Off her fingers Her mind is gone But her body lingers I hold her close And tell her I love her She just asks where’s my mother? Alzhiemer’s Disease Is taking her away Now all’s I do is sit here and pray Heavenly Father she’s so alone Can’t you now just take her home? I love my grandma With all my heart But this awful disease Has torn us apart. I LOVE YOU GRANDMA port orange, fl |

Fantastic poem and so true for many with Alz. All we can do is hold them and wait. Best, Susan susanb@greatlakes.net |

Today, June 16th is my 32nd birthday, and it is also today that I said goodbye to Grandma Joan. She died at 3:10 pm at home with me, my mom and dad and Aunt and 2 of my four children holding her hand. My children have helped to care for her for the last 8 months and my 9 yr old daughter stayed in bed with her for the last few days, singing Irish tunes and reading to her. It was very emotional and she spiked a fever in the very end. But when she left the look of pure relaxation that came over her was priceless. She was no longer confused/scared. She finally got to go "HOME". Rest in Peace Grandma Joan.
